Ike

It seems we have all survived Hurricane Ike without too much damage. Our house had some roof damage (already fixed), broken mailbox post (already replaced), lost some facia siding (still needs to be taken care of), water damage to the septic aerator (already had service company out) and some limbs down (already cut up and removed).

The worst was the intensity of the storm while it was going over head and the loss of water and power afterward for a few days.

Dawn and Emily left after the storm to spend a couple of days with Kate who was unaffected and Kim went up to Austin. Thankfully, Kim's apartment was not damaged and she had power when she returned home. Emily is eager (???) to get back to school once it reopens.

I have been praying for those less fortunate including many who I work with.

email to Bibbe, etc

Kate purchased a ticket to a music event in Austin-30 minutes from her school. Later, she saw the list of groups performing and was so excited to see Beck was performing. She would love to meet the side of the family she has never met.

She has asked me to email Bibbe( Susan gave me the email) to see if he would be interested in getting together. We'll see what happens.

Emily starts her senior year tomorrow. We did senior pictures yesterday. She has had a lot of responsibilty leading up to the start of school. She and her friend are co captains of the cheer team. Alot is expected of them besides their team organizing. They are having fun, and are coming up with great ideas. Its been a wonderful leadership experience.

At cheer camp, she was named an all-star, and their team took all the awards except one. Their proudest one is winning the leadership award.

She will be allowed to take a math class this semester at a near by community college. So we are off to a special start this year !

Hilton Head

On our way to Hilton Head tomorrow. Looking forward to relaxing on the beach, eating pizza and Ritas! Hope to do some sailing as well.

Kimmy bday

Kimmy bday was fun. We hadnt gotten to see her too much lately. She , Emily and I went shopping and found some great stuff. I think Kim will try to send picture.

I have never done this so far but I will give it a try. First, thanks Kim for setting this up. I think it's a great idea and a nice way for me to keep in touch when I'm traveling (that assumes people will read it).

Dawn, Emily and I had a nice dinner with Kim last night for her birthday. Hard to believe she is 24. We are looking forward to hanging out around the pool today and having another birthday dinner at home along with a surprise birthday cake. Tomorrow we will be going to the Honduras photo party and hope most of the trip participants can make it. Kim also said she is going to try to come.

CPA Exam

I took my CPA exam this morning! It is partly a relief to be done, and partly driving me crazy because now all I can do is wait for the results! I felt really good about some parts, and really bad about other parts. But the saying goes that you only pass if you think you failed, so it's good not to feel confident when you leave. I also had to be really careful with my algebra because I was rusty with that.

Juneau thought I was studying too much!

Family Blog

So Katie had this idea that we could start a blog where we can all post stuff about what we are up to. I have a CPA exam on Monday but I wanted to at least get it started while I was thinking about it. Post anything and everything you want. I think this will be really fun!
